Telehandlers have been around for many years but the very latest designs and Merlo Telehandler Attachments enable users to get a lot more out of them than in the past and are now replacing “traditional” machines in many applications.
The telehandler (or “telescopic handler”) is a highly versatile piece of equipment – basically a telescopic forklift that can lift loads and extend or retract its telescopic boom to adjust its maximum reach and lift height. Telehandlers have always been widely used in the agriculture and construction industry due to this versatility, but the latest technology and Merlo Telehandler attachments are taking telehandler use into new areas.

The main use for a telehandler is to lift pallets using the front forks, and by swapping attachments using the quick hitch design, it can now function not only as as a forklift, but also a crane (or other lifting equipment), MEWP, loader, sweeper or much more. The quick hitch design allows operators to change attachments efficiently, minimizing downtime and effort.

This versatility with attachments makes the modern telehandler an invaluable asset, streamlining tasks that would otherwise require multiple machines, and saving on equipment costs and the need for multiple trained operators.

DID YOU KNOW?

Merlo is also the only manufacturer to offer Boom Side Shift (on certain models), allowing for the lateral movement of the telescopic boom, ensuring precise load positioning, with no need for additional manoeuvring and without requiring side shift on the fork carriage (which reduces visibility of the workload and adds weight/reduces lift capacity, as on competitor models).

And with the Merlo ASCS (Adaptive Stability Control System) digital display on some models, you can easily see not only check how the machine is lifting against its handled load and load position with the selected attachment, but the machine will also slow and then stop the hydraulic service when the machine reaches its limit. The system provides real-time monitoring of operational parameters, ensuring the machine operates within safe limits.

The Merlo Attachment Recognition System is a key feature of Merlo telehandlers, designed to enhance safety and efficiency during operation. This system is integrated into ASCS, and manages the dynamic safety of the telehandlers by recognizing the attachment in use and adjusting the load charts accordingly. The attachment recognition feature is standard on all Merlo machines, offering operators peace of mind and reducing the risk of equipment damage or accidents.

Merlo machines also offer the Tac-Lock system as standard – this is an implement hydraulic locking system operated from the cab.

So whatever you do, a Merlo telehandler may be a cost-effective solution to enable you to do more for less!
